US Forces Targeted a 'Major Complex' in the Venezuelan nation, President Trump Claimed Without Offering Details.

Ex-President Donald Trump has stated that US forces hit a "major plant" in Venezuela in recent days. But, the former president did not specify the precise nature or site of the target, and officials have issued no additional comment from his team.

Vague Remarks Offered In a Radio Show

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you read – they have a large facility, where the vessels come from. Recently, we destroyed it. So we targeted them very hard," Trump allegedly told GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Significance of a Confirmed Strike

Should a American strike were to be verified, it would constitute the initial ground target hit since the Pentagon began a buildup of US military presence in the Caribbean region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration alleges operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial purpose of the force deployment has transformed into a blockade aimed at stopping the nation's oil exports.

Social Media Footage and Administration Claims

Trump has for some time indicated that US forces are poised to widen the military campaign by hitting targets within Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require congressional authorization.

Video footage circulated on social media on 24 December seemed to depict an explosion said to be from an industrial zone in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An administration official reportedly informed a news network that the former president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Situation

The Maduro government has remained silent on the incident the former president referenced. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from within the country about it.

The presence of American forces in the area – a position some have called a maritime "quarantine" – constitutes the broadest naval operation of the Trump era.

Administration officials have stopped short from describing the operation as a full blockade, but have confirmed that about 15,000 personnel are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold existing sanctions.
